CRAZY LIXX – Forever Wild (Album Review)

Once again a band from Sweden and Frontiers Records brings forth an album that simply oozes rock and roll, attitude, sleaze and wild music all the way. Crazy Lixx brings you their latest and greatest, Forever Wild. This will be the sixth studio album from the band and each album they put out just keeps getting stronger and better than the last!  This one is no exception!

The Band History

Originally formed in 2002 in Malmo, Sweden, by Danny Rexon and Vic Zino. They wanted to form a band that showed their influences like Whitesnake, KISS, Motley Crue and Def Leppard. Over the years Crazy Lixx has stayed true to the sounds that they loved! Luke Rivano pulled on the bass strings, and Joel Cirera was asked to handle the percussion end of things. In 2007 the band released their debut album, Loud Minority on a local label SwedMetal Records. Soon after however Vic Zino left the band in 2009 because of those nasty band disagreements. He now plays for Hardcore Superstar.

In 2009 the band regrouped and signed a new contract, which lasts until this day with Frontiers Records. The following year, Crazy Lixx dropped its second studio album, New Religion, and trudged forward garnering attention and serious buzz along the way. After that, in 2014, Crazy Lixx put out a statement that their fourth studio album would simply be self-titled. Although once again changes were looming overhead. Once again in 2015, it was announced that guitarist Edd Liam and songwriter/guitarist Andy Zäta had left the band. Reports said that Edd was leaving due to personal reasons and that Andy was instead involved with the band Inglorious. Lead singer Danny Rexon at this point stated that “the band’s future existence might be at stake”.

Crazy Lixx, however, decided to once again begin the arduous task of searching for new guitarists, and potential lyricists, allowing anyone to apply. Fast forward to 2016, the band put out a music video for the song “All Looks, No Hooks“.  This introduces to their fans new guitarists Chrisse Olsson and Jens Lundgren.

The band’s first live album was released in 2016 and consisted of songs recorded in 2015, which was the last show with guitarist Andreas Zäta. In 2017, we got the announcement of Ruff Justice, arriving in spring of that year. The album would also contain three songs that also appear in Friday the 13th: The Game. The album’s first single “XIII”, serves as the theme song for the game as well.

The Newest Album!

Crazy Lixx - Forever WildThat brings us to the new and current album of 2019, Forever Wild! With a breath of fresh air and a stellar band, they continue on with a bright and promising future. They continually bring us amazing albums and still stay true to sounds that we lovers of the 80’s metal/hard rock scene simply cannot get enough of!  With the anthemic opener of “Wicked” right through to “Never Die (Forever Wild)” you will have every hair on your neck standing at full attention!

Psycho Thoughts

Crazy Lixx has come thru for their fan base, producing an album that hits all the right notes over and over again. If you love your Hard Rock with the sounds of the ’80’s glory years then this definitely hit home. It has all you could want with huge sing-along choruses, giant hooks, killer riffs, and just killer production (again courtesy of Danny Rexon and Chris Laney). If you already know the band then you’ll truly love this album, but if you’re new to Crazy Lixx but are a fan of the aforementioned names at the beginning of this review then I cannot stress to you enough that you check out Crazy Lixx. The band once again prove beyond all doubt that they belong in their genre, yes, but they are leading the charge forward. I cannot give this album any less than Five SOLID stars!!

Rock on!
