FIND ME – Angels In Blue (Album Review)

Find Me - Angels in BlueOne of the things I love about music is the anticipation of a new album from a band I love. Finally, the day arrives, and you get that new music in your hands. You rush home and await the sounds to awash over you. Bringing every hair on the back of your neck to a stand with each pound of the drum. Each riff and solo of the guitar, and each pull of the strings on the bass. Even the keyboards can make the feelings of elation arise to the surface. The third, and newest release from Find Me on Frontier Records, Angels in Blue is no exception.

Any fan of AOR/Melodic Rock, whether it be from Journey, W.E.T. or Eclipse has to…no…NEEDS to have Angels in Blue in their album repertoire. The anthemic lead and backing vocals from Robert Lablanc and an amazing performance from Daniel Flores on drums. Not forgetting rhythm guitarist Philip Lindstrand, and Johnny Trobro on bass, each track is a powerhouse on its own. Add Soren Kronquist on keyboards, and Michael Palance guesting lead guitars for “Can’t Let Go” and “Only The Lonely“, and you have a melodic dream come true.

FIND ME – Angels in Blue (The Review)

Imagine yourself front row centre as the show goes into the opening track of “No Tears in Paradise” you are treated to fantastic keyboards, and drums that immediately have you grinning from ear to ear. The lights dim and rise again into “Chain Of Love“. You can almost see the live show in your head as the album plays on. A soulful, “True Believer” is next. The heartfelt, love letter lyrics from one to another is relatable, to any listener.

A quarter way through this musical journey is, “Straight for Eternity“. With this one you can hear, a “single” written all over it. This is one, in my opinion, is great for a live set. “Can’t Let Go” brings in Michael Palance on guitars, and yet again, simplicity is the key to some great music. A stunning guitar solo, solid beats, and terrific vocals deliver every time.

One Last Kiss” almost reminds you of a song straight from Journey. That being said, it’s not a cookie cutter song, but a huge compliment to where this band sits in my eyes.

At the halfway mark now,  we get to hear “Living A Lie“.  A chorus that you can sing along with and raise your arm in the air, the hits keep coming. The title track falls next.  “Angels In Blue” is an edgy, tune.  With striking, choruses, dazzling backing vocals, impressive keyboards, and devastating percussion, this song will prove to any naysayers that these guys are pros in the business.

Heading towards the finish line is “Show Me What You’d Die For“.  A melodic piece with quick solos, impassioned lyrics keep the flow going. “Waiting For a Lifetime” slows the pace down a bit, but eagerly catches up to the others and belts out another expressive song.

Third to last is “You Are The Only One“. A different start to this one, makes you think of a concert show starter. Not really fast-paced, but a great one to get the crowd up and on their feet! In the second to last track along this AOR ride is, “Desperate Dreams” A mid-tempo, almost power ballad sounding song. With forceful, gang vocals on the chorus, this one is an angelic song true to the Find Me sound.

To finish up this superb album is “Only The Lonely“. With exquisite keyboards and grand vocals, it’s a pleasing way to finish off a great album. It will once again leave you feeling great.  Appreciating what Find Me has brought us again in another great album release.

With many great bands coming from the Sweden area, Angels In Blue will sit perfectly on your shelf with other great powerhouses, like Journey, and Giant. This is yet another album that one simply cannot do without.
