MORC West: MONSTERWOOD 2016 – Complete Coverage

monsterwood marquee070115Once again On the Blue Entertainment has presented a successful Monsters of Rock Cruise. Dubbed Monsterwood, this 6th voyage in five years departed from the Port of San Pedro, Los Angeles bringing cruisers to new destinations. Furthermore, this marks the first time that the floating party boat has not set sail from Florida (Fort Lauderdale 2012-2013 / Miami 2014, 15 & 16). While folks from around the world rocking hard on the high seas did remain a constant. Also, a whole host of wicked bands delivering the performances of a lifetime. And finally, for many of us, a lot of booze!

Consequently, after two nights of official pre-parties in L.A., approximately 3000 rockers set sail on the Norwegian Pearl. The ship ported at Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico also including a full day at sea in the voyage. Musical performances began in the late mornings/early afternoons and continued into the wee hours. Probably most noteworthy was the much bandied about reunion of RATT. Original  members Stephen Pearcy, Juan Croucier and Warren DeMartini took stage as “The Stowaways“. Also shows from MORC newcomers, Pretty Maids, Vain, Shark Island, Mr. Big and Warrant alongside favorites such as KIX, Firehouse, and John Corabi. So, approximately 30 bands, 4 days and a ton of fun that you have to experience to understand.

There were many different faces this trip, a lot of new folks experiencing what was sure to become their new “addiction” for the first time. Several notable familiar faces were absent, therefore creating a different vibe for those having experienced all previous MORCs. Not a bad vibe of course, just new. Team Decibel Geek was proud to have several staff partake in the event again this time around. And as a result, we present here our coverage of MORC West: Monsterwood.
