NASTY RATZ – Second Chance? (Album Review)

Nasty or Nice?

Czech metal anyone?  Yes, the sonic mastery switches on with Nasty Ratz.

The band formed in Prague in 2012 and they wear their influences on their sleeves like a Sleaze uniform ranking RATT and others as the generals.

Nasty Ratz are made up of Jordy Riot on lead guitar, Xriss String on bass guitar, Jake Widow on vocals and Randy Dee on drums.  They make a right unholy racket, giving rock n roll a new set of sleazy saints.  They have attitude in spades and musical skill in buckets.

Second Chance or No Chance?

The boys have released their latest rock chronicle.  It is a mixing basin of songs that give welcome familiarity allied to great musicianship and memorable tunes. Bang your head to tracks such as “The Waste“.  This is superior Sleaze, for sure.

The influence of RATT is there to see on awesome tracks such as “Watch Your Back“.  I can’t lie, this whole record is gold. Therefore, it reeks of the Sunset Strip, filtered through European classic rock/metal.  Beau Hill has done some production work for the band, at his request, which shows exactly how good these guys are.

The sound is perfect for the songs, being tight and crunchy with superior solos and harmonious singing. God, it is brilliant in places.

However, the Ratz are not afraid to experiment.  On the track “Pop Sh*t“, they have female guest vocals over a Pogues-like structure. Very nice.

The whole album will put a sparkle back in your eye and a huge swagger in your pants.  You may never walk the same way again!
