Perception and Attitude of Musicians Toward Copyright - A Survey

Lisa Di Valentino is a librarian with a background in copyright research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is conducting a survey into learning about what musicians and music industry people think about copyright in the United States. The data will be used to help determine how to promote copyright awareness among musicians. The study itself is called “Perception and Attitude of Musicians Toward Copyright – A Survey“.

Di Valentino says she’s limiting it to U.S. participants because the laws are different in Canada but hopes to do a similar study in Canada if this one ends up useful. The survey is open to all those in the music industry in the USA. Including musicians, podcasters, radio broadcasters, writers/reviewers/bloggers, record labels and concert promoters among others. Pretty much anyone who is involved significantly with music. She estimates that it will take about five to seven minutes to complete the survey. Open until the end of April 2019.
