BLOODSTOCK – 6 More And A New Charity Tie-In – Latest Poster

Bloodstock have announced 6 new bands for the festival to be held in Catton Park Derbyshire England along with news of a new charity partner for this year. There is one band for the main stage on the Saturday and five bands for the second stage, 4 of which are for the Sunday and one for the Saturday. Now we know that let’s have a look at the new additions!

SAVAGE MASTER

First up are Savage Master from Louisville Kentucky who play the Dio Stage on the Saturday. They will be kicking off the main stage for the day playing 100% old school heavy metal. Led by a ferocious-looking lady known by the stage name of Stacey Savage and featuring a band who are all in hoods so their faces are hidden they sound like a mix of Judas Priest (who themselves, of course, headline the Sunday night) and Black Sabbath. They describe themselves as “occult metal” and their image (and videos) certainly live up to that description. The band are CGCM approved as this review by Sparky will testify…

SHARKS IN YOUR MOUTH

Staying on the Saturday but moving to the Sophie Lancaster Stage we have the first of two Italian bands added to the bill today! The first have the strange name of Sharks In Your Mouth who are post-hardcore and djent. To make it a bit special Bloodstock will be their first-ever show in the UK! They released their second album Sacrilegious back in 2019 and the band are into all sort of symbolism as can be seen from their lyrics and videos.

BLASPHEMER

Moving to Sunday and the Sophie Stage also from Italy come Blasphemer! As you can probably guess from the name they are blackened death metal and like their compatriots rather “sacrilegious” in their writing and performances. Although the band formed back in the 90s they only released their first album in 2008 and are now on their third The Sixth Hour which came out last month. They are as anti-religious as they are dark and heavy. Expect unholy hell to be unleashed when they take the stage.

LIBERTY LIES

Also on Sunday are West Midlands based outfit Liberty Lies who say their style comes from partly their parents record collection and bands that they got into as teens growing up such as Biffy Clyro, QOSTA and Coheed And Cambria making them a little different to others on the bill (well they do say variety is the spice of life). They were a five-piece until recently but are now operating as four with three of them being original members from 2008. Their last single “Mouth Breathers” was playlisted on rock radio and even made the Itunes charts!

BLACK TONGUE

Coming from Hull are Black Tongue. This deathcore band have 2 EPs and 2 albums out with their latest Nadir officially all up on their You Tube channel making them easier to check out in time for the festival! They are formed from ex-members of other bands such as Infant Annihilator, Acrania and the slightly dubious Mister Sister Fister. They can go from slow and doomy to fast and brutal all in the same song. Again they play the Sunday on the Sophie.

PIST

Pist are a mix of stoner and sludge and come from Bury near Manchester. Their influences include Orange Goblin, Kvelertak, Motorhead and Entombed which gives some idea of what they sound like. They opened the Sophie Stage on the Saturday in 2015 and since then have released two albums (the first having the title Rhythm And Booze which I quite like). Expect lots of heavy groove from these guys.

MIND CHARITY TIE-IN

Bloodstock are also happy to announce that this year’s charity link-up is Mind. A mental health charity who provides advice and support to help anyone suffering from mental health issues. With around 1 in 4 people experiencing issues of one kind or another they do an important task for so many in need. Bloodstock have an arrangement that anyone on the guest list doesn’t get their pass until they make a donation to the charity of choice.

As well, having on-site a booth/tent called Patch Amnesty which allows folks to donate their old/new/spare patches. These can be sold on to others with all the proceeds also going into the charity. This year everyone who takes part will be helping Mind. So please if you are attending and you have patches you don’t require, bring them to the festival and help others. Each year thousands of pounds are raised by the guest list and other donations at the festival. So let’s do it again in 2020 for Mind.

Also remember if you are wondering how to get there that there are coaches running from towns and cities all over the UK to the festival site via Big Green Coach, more of which can be found out about at this link!
