Bloodstock Festival have announced the 2 other headliners for the festival August next year to go along with Devin Townsend who is topping the Friday of the festival.

The Priest Are Back:

This being the 20th anniversary of the event they have decided to work with a band celebrating 50 years of existence (technically 51 by the time of the festival) and 50 years of metal (after all this is what the festival is about) British stalwarts Judas Priest. One of the things that makes Priest so special in this world is that they never ever shied away from being called a “heavy metal” band. There are plenty bands who through the years have tried to distance themselves a little whilst in interviews singer Rob Halford has said that the fans call it “heavy metal” so that is what they are! Although the band headlined only a couple of years ago this is going to be a special one off show celebrating the history of the band.

With a catalogue of classics they have plenty of great songs to choose from and considering how they tore up the stage last time with a crowd that was very fired up this looks to be a terrific end to the festival on the mainstage (Dio stage). Promising a “spectacular light show” to go along with some of the finest metal anthems ever written should end things on a high.

Saturday Headliners:

Saturday headliners are Polish black metal outfit Behemoth. Last playing in 2016 this will be the first time they have headlined the festival (making it 2 out of 3 mainstage headliners being new to the slot having played lower down the bill). This will be a UK festival exclusive being the only festival they will be at on these islands in 2020. Their last 2 albums have been up there with the best they have done as well as 2 albums that ride high in the world of black metal. They always deliver a good show with lots of flames and devilish designs and as headliner I expect them to go further than before with a production to match. They have promised that “hell will be raised, blood will be shed and magick will descend”. Sounds like Saturday on the mainstage will finish in fine demonic style.

Other bands announced so far include Skindred, Paradise Lost ( playing all of their 1995 album Draconian Times in full), Phil Anselmo along with his band The illegals who are performing a set of Pantera classics, Gloryhammer, Jinjer, Dark Tranquillity, The Black Dahlia Murder, Sacred Reich, Life Of Agony, Vio-lence (first ever and only show in the UK for 2020), Butcher Babies and Diamond Head (along with previously mentioned Devin Townsend).

Still many more to be announced on what should be simply THE metal event of the year.

Rock Society Details:

In other news from October 31 fans can join up for the Bloodstock Rock Society for £75 which allows priority access to the signing tent, access to the VIP Serpents Lair bar area (they normally have around 100 real ales and ciders to have fun with as well as seeing some extra acts in the bar tent), special tours of he backstage areas, a rock society laminate and an area which you can chill in (have an actual sit down under cover) amongst other benefits. They go VERY quickly so if you wish to purchase recommend you go to the site on the morning of the 31st! Full info can be found here.

Charity Raffle:

Also the festival is having a raffle in aid of last year’s chosen charity Young Minds which helps younger folks with mental health issues. Up for grabs is a drumskin signed by many of the bands who played the festival earlier this year. The raffle is £5 a ticket (closes November 11 at 5pm) and can be purchased here!
