Music is the Medicine! (Blog)

Music is the MedicineLately I’ve been off work from my day to day job. Anyone that follows me on Facebook might have already known that. But for those who didn’t let me give you a brief update.

I’m a “big, tall guy”, at least that’s what my doctors keep saying. I’m 6’9″ tall, and weight in around 327lbs. Yes, I get it. I’m large all the way around, but I used to be an extremely skinny person, and still had knee issues. Anyways, I had my left knee operated on and cleaned up with orthoscopic surgery, and went back to work.  Soon I started having knee issues in my right knee, so here I sit again, in discomfort and worry about how I’m going to pay the bills etc. Well if you’re a CGCM follower, then you must be into music like I am, and yes…that’s my escape!

Nothing new to discuss today, I’m just going to talk about some albums that have been lost in the shuffle of the start of the grunge era, or have since gone defunct, but are still great albums although forgot about by many. I hope to spark a memory or two maybe and make ya dig out that old cassette, or LP, and give it a spin!!

Enjoy!

The Music is the Medicine

BIG HOUSE – Self Titled (1991)

No not the country act by the same name, but the Canadian hard rock act from 1991 that had a huge hit, with their power ballad “Baby Doll”.  Spawning from a Punk Band named Down Syndrome, they released the one and only album and disappeared into thin air. If you ever listened to a rock station on the radio in the day, then you HAVE to know “Baby Doll” at least!  A fun walk down memory lane and still some great tunes to help pass the time away.

MIDNIGHT CIRCUS – Money Shot (1991)

Another glam/Hard Rock Band from the US. This 2005 release is a fun album to listen too. Yes it has some filler and isn’t all killer for sure. Regardless it’s still worth throwing on and rocking out  for what it is. A fun time, and good music.

ROCKHEAD – Self Titled (1992)

Who doesn’t know Bob Rock?  Who knew that he played in a band? Yup same guy. Actually, I’ve always liked this album! It’s catchy, full of hooks, and soon I can find myself singing the chorus. This is definitely an album worth checking out!

SWEET F.A. – Stick To Your Guns (1990)

Sweet F.A. - Music is the MedicineSweet F.A. signed their first record deal in 1989 and gave us  Stick To Your Guns. The band toured for several months and performed shows with bands such as Slaughter, Circus Of Power, Winger, and Tuff to name a few. This album rocks from start to finish and has everything a sleaze fan could possibly ask for. They looked good, sounded great, and wrote excellent tunes, but fame sadly eluded them.

CROSSFIRE – Dirty Games (2007)

Crossfire-Music is the MedicineThis band out of Israel, has struggled and clawed its way to bring us this album. It’s fun Melodic Hard Rock and deserves to be in our collections. Great Riffs, great vocals (with a range that could go anywhere) and some burning guitar work! This album makes ya forget whatever pain you may be in and just rocks!

Psycho Final Thoughts

I think that maybe this is enough for forgotten gems for now! If you liked this kind of article, rather then the normal reviews, then let me know! Maybe I’ll pick out some more for ya to check out! Until then, peace out, and go seek these great albums. Many, if not all are still available on Amazon, as a matter of fact, I’ve added the links into all the band names for ya!

Peace!

  1. Absolutely LOVE the Big House cd. 100%. Not a week track on the cd. Lucky enough to see the band once back in the day. I never stopped listening to this cd. Now the other ones on the list… I’ve never heard of… but then again, that’s why we’re here!

  2. I had Big House saw them at the Bovine Sex Club and also loved the CD ( tape actually). Also had Sweet FA and Rockhead. Really liked Rockhead as well.
