Hello CGCM Rock Radio listeners and readers! Welcome to Beaver Buzz, a regular segment written by contributor Dave Wilks showcasing some newly released (or recently added) singles to the CGCM Rock Radio rotation. While listening to our station, you’ll hear our mascot Buzzsaw Beaver come on at the top of the hour with a new single to spin. We all at CGCM believe it’s important to feature new music. If you’re interested in having your band’s single played, send mp3 files and information to: email@example.com.
CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – June 9, 2021
For the summer, the Beaver Buzz is going bi-weekly. Not to worry, you’ll still get a couple dozen all new rockers added to the CGCM library. It’s not just Buzsaw doing all the work. Wally, The Meister, The Burke, and Dave are all spinning brand new tunes keeping the rock at CGCM as fresh as cherry pie.
Giddy – Up! – David Lee Roth
Full disclosure, I’m a huge DLR fan, so you might encounter some bias up ahead. I can’t stop playing this song from The Roth Project. Sure it’s country, but it’s the bad-ass rock and roll kind. Featuring a string of Roth-isms (describing his laugh “like four flat tires bumping down a muddy road” — yeah, that pretty much nails it). Roth calls out to his earlier foray into country with Travis Tritt, “Cheatin’ Heart Cafe“, also rife with Roth-isms. Top it all off with a psychedelic little fireside story from the legend, and “Giddy-Up!” is cemented in the summer 2021 playlists.
Life of the Party – The Metal Byrds
Speaking of being a huge fan, The Metal Byrds are way up there right now. With “Life of the Party” they dive into pure fun party rock. Sly Rye‘s guitar tears it up and Suzanne Birdie‘s vocals are perfect as usual. An upbeat summer song, this one should be blasting at backyard parties all the way through the release of their upcoming album in a few months.
Want Ya – The Rumours
“Want Ya” is everything you can expect from a song by The Rumours: absolutely rocking, sleazy, sexy, and a wee bit scary. To enjoy the full experience, be sure to check out the video.
Also, some breaking news: The Rumours are playing Rocklahoma 2021!
The Mescalito Vampires Welcome To The Hotel De La Muerta – Gypsy Pistoleros
Gypsy Pistoleros have rolled out some of the most unique rock in 2021, and the latest release is no different. It’s a raucous take on the Eagle‘s classic “Hotel California” — not a cover, more of a reimaging. Think Alice Cooper taking over the writing and singing.
Winner Takes All – Dream Troll
This song seems perfect for the “come back to fight one more time” scene in an imaginary 80’s classic called Chrome Skull Viper III. Maybe it’s just me. Dream Troll gets better with every track, and this bass-heavy doozy is a step in the right direction.
Buzzworthy Singles from the CGCM DJs
Last week, several of the CGCM Rock Radio shows featured new singles. They’re compiled below by show. Be sure to check out the DJ pages, set a reminder to catch their show live, and download the MixCloud episodes. The Meister had a whole show dedicated to new music, while other DJs mixed in some new rock with their usual programs.
We Stand as One – Burning Witches
Ripping track off the latest The Witch of the North.
What You Say – Tygers of Pan Tang
Check out the interview with lead vocalist Jacopo “Jack” Meille.
Raise Hell – Wildstreet
More masterful sleaze from Wildstreet.
More – Sokojo
The debut single from Sokojo, a hard and heavy rock n’ roll band out of Los Angeles.
Breakfast at Tisiphone’s – Lesbian Bed Death
Can’t wait for The Witching Hour to drop in September based on the first couple tracks, including the on-brand gothic-tinged “Breakfast at Tisiphone’s“.
Undertow – A Rising Force
Powerful rock song about addiction with a punky anthemic vibe.
Reformed Baptist Blues – The Tragically Hip
What’s old is new again for the Canadian legends.
Walls – Flotsam and Jetsam
The thrash legends are still killing it.
Wallygator’s Rock and Roll Swamp
C’mon and Twenty One – Lee Aaron
The first two singles off the new album show Lee Aaron returning to form.
Dave’s Hard Rock Radio
Who Says You Can’t Dance to Rock & Roll – Twirl
Whoever says that is wrong, and I give you Twirl as evidence.
The Burke Show
Sin City – The Offspring
The Offspring embrace their hard rock roots with a true-to-the-original cover.
Babalon – Andrew W.K.
Seriously, this is a cracking, old-school metal song with a huge riff.
