CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – June 23, 2021
(BEAVER BUZZ)
This week’s special edition of Beaver Buzz comes to you from a vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The first true vacation in over a year is especially welcome in 2021. Whether chilling on the beach or getting doused by Tropical Storm Claudette, these tunes rule the holiday playlist.
The Claw is the Law – Tower Hill
Blasting out of Edmonton, the killer traditional metal song from Tower Hill pays tribute to the hugely popular White Claw beverage sweeping North America (and the rest of the world?). I like the song “The Claw is the Law” more than the actual beverage—which itself is far tastier than expected. Given that we’re talking about a song off a demo, I expect big things from R. F. Traynor‘s project.

Oblivion – Lycanthro
Lycanthro left such a great impression on Shawn “Animalize” Irwin when he saw them in Ottawa opening for Battle Beast, that he closed episode 54 out with them. What a great choice as this one rips and tears like the namesake werewolf. Starting off with a kick, and featuring a really cool instrumental section in the middle, Lycanthro left a hell of an impression on me.

Factory – Overdrivers
When Psychoone suggests a song, it’s always a good bet. These Australian’s mission “to successfully complete their world supremacy claim,” temporarily foiled by the pandemic, is backed up by their heavy and hard rock. The AC/DC influence is strong with this band, but they veer into other more metal territory than the legends. Spending time to create a well-done, professional video is an added bonus. Do yourself a favour and check out their earlier music too. If nothing else, it’ll make you smile.
Shot’s Fired – Shakey DeVille
Whiskey-soaked, blues-based rock and roll out of North Carolina. How can you go wrong? The boys put together an impressive performance video showcasing their talents. If your jam is good-time, hard and heavy southern rock, look no further.
Ghost Myself – Diamante
Big time single of the sophomore album.

Fear Of The Fallen – Helloween
Check out Tom’s review. He loved the album, and this second single is another example of how well Helloween pulls it all together.

All Rise Again – Blackberry Smoke
Groove-laden southern rock with the epic Warren Haynes on vocals. The song debuted on The Burke Show #16.

Daylight – The Glorious Sons
Another Burke Show gem, and when The Burke calls it catchy,
he’s not lying.

Hatred is a Virtue – Twisted Illusion
Maybe my favourite track from The Burke Show #16, “Hatred is a Virtue” rips.
